Auxiliary Fuel TanksUp to two auxiliary fuel tanks may be carried, one under each wing on the pylon nearest the fuselage. Use of the auxiliary tanks greatly increases the range of the Harrier. You may fit these tanks when arming the Harrier in the East Island Campaign. They are also automatically fitted in some other missions, but not all. The amount of fuel in the tanks is displayed on the dial panel of the console. The LED on the dial indicates low fuel via the colour, and flashes if the tank is punctured. The tanks may be jettisoned using the switches on the dial panel, beneath the fuel gauges, or by key-code. The key-codes to use are given here. It is best to jettison tanks when they are empty. If the tank has been punctured suck-back will occur from the internal tank, wasting fuel. This award may be won in mission Thirst. |
