Enemy Ground And Sea Forces

You may meet the following enemy ground and sea forces during your missions:

Non-Targets - Medics

MedicsEnemy medics are not considered to be legitimate targets. You may be penalised for destroying them.

Medics are shown on the radar, as normal, but are not highlighted by the target HUD.

Soft Targets - Tents And Huts

Soft TargetsEnemy tents and huts are easily destroyed with cluster bombs, retarded bombs, general purpose bombs or rockets. The do not pose any threat to the Harrier.

Fuel Stores

Fuel StorageEnemy fuel storage tanks and trucks are easy targets. They pose no threat, but may be defended. Fuel tanks are often laser-illuminated. Destroy with bombs or rockets.

Guns

Guns and MissilesEnemy machine guns, flack guns and missile launchers are progressiveley dangerous enemy weapons. Destroy with bombs or rockets. Use the 'Flack Dodge' manoeuvre to get past machine and flack gun emplacements. Missile launchers may launch wire-guided, heat-seeking or radar-guided missiles.

Hard Targets - Armour

ArmourEnemy tanks and armoured personnel carriers (APCs) are harder to destroy. They may be stationary or mobile. Destroy with a direct hit with a bomb or armour-piercing rocket. These targets are often laser-illuminated. Tanks may be armed with a cannon or machine gun. APCs may be armed with a cannon, machine gun or missile launcher.

Ships And Submarines

Ships & SubmarinesGun boats, landing craft and submarines may be armed with flack guns, cannon or missile launchers. Gunboats may carry up to three weapons, submarines two and landing craft only one. They may be stationary or mobile. The tops of ship cabins house radar equipment, emitting radiation that can be homed in on with anti-radiation missiles. Destroying a mobile ships cabin will immobilise it. Submarines do not emit radiation. Ships and submarines may be sunk with an anti-ship missile, or carefully placed bomb.
