Harrier Weapons

Weapons are selected on the primary and secondary weapon displays of the weapon panel on the console. To begin with only the primary display is available and you will need to keep swapping weapons on this display, using the Weapon Select key or the console buttons., The secondary display must be won later.

At the start of the game your Harrier is equiped with three types of weapon; cannon, bombs and wire-guided air-to-air missiles. As you progress through the West Island missions, more weapons become available for you to win. Some weapons, such as the wire-guided missile, are guided while in flight and need to be targeted to be effective, and some, such as the cannon and bomb, are not. In the South and West Island missions your Harrier always has infinite ammunition for any weapon that it is carrying. You will not necessarily be carrying every weapon type that you have won though. Some weapons are of no use in certain missions, and the arming of the Harrier takes into account how many under-wing pylons the Harrier has. Initially the Harrier has five pylons, but this can be increased to seven if you win the additional pylons award.

In the East Island Campaign you must arm your Harrier yourself with limited ammunition. While doing so you must consider the weight and pylon restrictions that you have. In these missions it is possible to land and re-fuel and re-arm.
