Guide To Missions

This section is a guide to the missions of Harrier Attack II. For each mission more in-depth guidance is given beyond the terse mission briefing. There are also hints and tips on how to get ahead and win all of the awards available.

Most missions have training exercises to try before playing the mission proper.

The missions are divided into to three groups:

Playing Missions

You may decide to play a South or West Island mission for several possible reasons:

  • It is a new mission that you havn't played before. You must always acheive the first objective in order to unlock the next mission and progress through the game. This may be all that you wish to acheive and, to a certain extent, this is a perfectly legitimate tactic. There may be no awards here that you need or are interested in at the moment. You can always come back to it later. As you progress through the game though, you will find progress difficult is you haven't won enough gear to fall back on. On the other hand, coming back to a mission when you have won more awards on others may make it easier.
  • You need to win a particular award in order to progress. When you acheive certain objectives you are given the opportunity to select a mission award, or swap a previously won award for a different one. Sometimes (though rarely) a particular item may be essential to make good progress through the missions. If this is the case then a hint is given in the mission briefing. Your award must be chosen with care and thought. If you later change your mind you must replay the mission to swap the award for a different one, or do better next time and acheive more objectives. The order in which you accept awards may also be important. It will be easier later to swap an award won on an easier objective than one won on a harder objective.
  • You are driven to do your best at every mission, and win as many awards as possible That's great, that's what we would do! If you have difficulty progressing in a particular mission you may find it helpful to move on to the next mission and try again later, after you have won more awards.
