Short Take-offThe short take-off method uses a short taxi along the aircraft carrier deck and a run up the ramp to give lift. It uses less fuel but takes more time than a vertical take-off. It allows the Harrier to carry greater payloads. This take-off method can be most useful in many East Island missions where the payload weight is taken into account.
