The Target HUD

The target HUD highlights objects in the main view with a surrounding halo. Objects within range but not actually in sight have halos drawn at the edge of the main view. This allows prediction of the positions of targets before they come into sight.

The HUD has the advantage over the radar that you do not need to look away from the main view to see it.

Circular highlights represent air forces, squares ground forces, and triangles weapons. Allied forces are displayed in light grey. Enemy forces are displayed in green when they are directly on the flightpath (and therefore easier targets) fading to red for those far from the flight path. Each highlight that indicates a valid target has arrow markers on it.

The colour of the markers indicates wether they can be locked onto by a particular weapon:

When the target is being locked onto by the targeting array the arrows are animated. If the target is out of sight but within HUD range, just one arrow is shown, indicating the direction of the target.

Once awarded, the target HUD can be turned on and off using the target HUD on/off switch on the weapon panel of the console. In addition targets can be disabled by using the radar control buttons to hide friendly and hostile targets.

The HUD can become damaged if the Harrier is hit, but may be repaired by using the 'Console Repair' skill.

This award may be won in mission Repel.
