The Harrier

The Harrier aircrafts unique vertical take-off and landing
capability is due to its adjustable jet nozzles. Its single jet
engine has four nozzles. These can point downwards, for hovering
and vertical take-off without the need for a conventional runway.
For conventional flight they point backwards.
The Harrier may also perform a unique manoeuvre called a VIFF,
or Vector In Forward Flight. By rotating its nozzles while in
normal flight the Harrier can rapidly decelerate and out manoeuvre
any opposing aircraft.
The Harrier has an internal fuel tank, and carries its weapons
and external equipment on fuselage and under-wing mounted
pylons.
