The Weapon Panel

The weapon panel is the central section of the console. It houses weapon and targeting instruments, chaff and flare dispensing controls, incoming missile warnings and the information window.

Weapon Panel

Primary And Secondary Weapon Display

The weapon displays show the currently selected weapons. Position the mouse pointer over the display during flight to see a text description in the info window.

Next Weapon

The next weapon button selects and activates the next primary or secondary weapon that the Harrier is carrying.

Previous Weapon

The previous weapon button selects and activates the previous primary or secondary weapon that the Harrier is carrying.

Targeting Array

The targeting array shows when a Harrier weapon is locked on to a target. If a guided weapon is selected then the first LED of the array flashes. When a target comes in range the LEDs illuminate in turn until the 'SHOOT' LED is lit. At this point the target is locked and the weapon may be launched.

Weapon Ammo

The weapon ammunition indicators show how much ammunition is available for the selected primary or secondary weapon. Position the mouse pointer over the indicator during flight to see a text description in the info window.

Targeting Concentration Indicator

The targeting concentration indicator shows the status of the pilots targeting concentration. It is used in conjunction with the targeting concentration skill award:

  • Grey - Unavailable
  • Red - No Targeting Concentration
  • Green - Concentrating
  • Flashing Green - Concentration about to run out

Automatic Flare Dispenser Switch And Indicator

The automatic flare dispenser switch turns the automatic flare dispenser on and off. The indicator shows the status of the automatic flare dispenser:

  • Grey - Unavailable
  • Red - Disabled
  • Green - Enabled
  • Yellow - Enabled but the flare dispenser is damaged or empty
  • Black - The automatic dispenser is damaged

Flare Ammo

This indicator shows the number of flares remaining. Position the mouse pointer over the indicator during flight to see a text description in the info window.

Incoming Heat-Seeker Warning Indicator

The incoming heat-seeking missile warning indicator illuminates and gives audible warning when the Harrier is being pursued by a heat-seeking missile.

Automatic Chaff Dispenser Switch And Indicator

The automatic chaff dispenser switch turns the automatic chaff dispenser on and off. The indicator shows the status of the automatic chaff dispenser:

  • Grey - Unavailable
  • Red - Disabled
  • Green - Enabled
  • Yellow - Enabled but the chaff dispenser is damaged or empty
  • Black - The automatic dispenser is damaged

Chaff Ammo

This indicator shows the number of chaff cartridges remaining. Position the mouse pointer over the indicator during flight to see a text description in the info window.

Incoming Radar-Guided Missile Warning Indicator

The incoming radar-guided missile warning indicator illuminates and gives audible warning when the Harrier is being pursued by a radar-guided missile.

Information Window

The information window gives help on console equipment, and shows various messages during play.

Target HUD Switch And Indicator

This switch turns the target HUD on and off. The indicator shows the status of the target HUD (Head Up Display):

  • Grey - Unavailable
  • Red - Disabled
  • Green - Enabled
  • Black - Damaged

Weapon Camera Switch And Indicator

The weapon camera switch turns the weapon cam on and off. Turning the weapon cam off leaves the radar screen constantly active, unless it gets damaged. The indicator shows the status of the weapon camera:

  • Grey - Unavailable
  • Red - Disabled
  • Green - Enabled
